چکیده
The poorly-studied, faint (18 < m pg < 19.5) variable star CC Boötis has been noted in the literature as a candidate for a halo red giant. It proves instead to be a quasi-stellar object of redshift z = 0.172, and is detected as an X-ray source by ROSAT. In addition to its odd heritage, CC Boo exhibits unusually high amplitude optical variability for an optically-selected QSO.

Detection of a large void (∼7 Mpc) is reported between the redshifts 2.16286 and 2.20748 in the Ly α forest of TOL 1038-2712. This void is centered near a foreground QSO TOL 1037-2704 which is at a distance ∼4.4 Mpc away from the void. The estimated probability for the void to occure by chance in front of the foreground QSO is few times 10 −3. Various implications of the void being produced by ...

The QSO 1345+584 has been spatially resolved by direct images and in spectral images, and has extended flux asymmetrically to the W, where its inner radio structure is seen. The brightest knots in the resolved flux correspond closely with knots in the curved radio jet, and the brightest knot has velocity of approach of some 3000 km/s with respect to the nucleus. Other parts of the line-emitting...

We present results of the hosts of four high-redshift (z ≈ 2) and high luminosity (MB ∼ −28 mag) QSOs, three radio-quiet one radio-loud, imaged in R and K bands. The extensions to the nuclear unresolved source are most likely due to the hosts galaxies of these QSOs, with luminosities at rest-frame 2300Å of at least 3−7 per cent of the QSO luminosity, and most likely around 6−18 per cent of the ...

We have observed 13 z ≥ 4.5 QSOs using the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer, nine of which were also observed with the Infrared Array Camera. The observations probe rest wavelengths ∼ 0.6 − 4.3µm, bracketing the local minimum in QSO spectral energy distributions (SEDs) between strong optical emission associated directly with accretion processes and thermal emission from hot dust heated ...
